This week on DVD…

Standard and special editions, regular and Blu-Ray. ‘Nuff said.

TV shows:

Just in time for Halloween, it’s Friday the 13th the Series S1:

Ladies of a certain age will remember the ’80s romantic fantasy series Beauty and the Beast Complete Series (four complete seasons). Ron “Hellboy” Perlman is Liono, or whatever his name was, and Linda “King Kong Lives” Hamilton was, uhm, the chick I guess. Oh, and I think Hamilton was in a movie about a robot or something, too.

Fans of enjoyable bad comedy meanwhile–which should mean anyone who reads my stuff–will welcome the return of the Hudson Brothers in the Razzle Dazzle Show:

And because I can never resist a request, here’s something from last week:

Other shows: Adam 12 S2; BJ Stryker (Burt Reynolds) Complete Series; Banacek CS; Brothers & Sisters S2; Cashmere Mafia CS; CSI New York S4; Horatio Hornblower Collector’s Edition; Jewel in the Crown 25th Anniversary Edition; My Name is Earl S3; My Three Sons S1, Vol 1; Numb3rs S4; Peanuts Deluxe Holiday Collection; Samatha Who? S1; Sports Night CS 10th Anniversary Edition; Two and a Half Men S4.

Movies:

Ahh, more Popeye. Essential stuff.

LA Confidential Special Edition

One of that few recent films that was immediately apparent as a classic. Great stuff. 2 discs; also on Blu-Ray.

Sundown The Vampire in Retreat Very, very fun, shouldn’t be obscure vamp flick with Bruce Campbell *and* David Carradine.

Anderson Tapes – Classic ’70s heist flick with Sean Connery, a young Christopher Walken, Dyan Cannon, Martin Balsam and Garrett Morris.
Drive-in Double Feature: Barracuda and Island Fury.

The Godfather Collection (The Coppola Restoration) New restored editions, also on Blu-Ray.

New Centurians Gritty, downbeat ’70s cop story about like as a patrol officer. Starring George C. Scott, Stacy Keach and Erik Estrada.

    Iron Man! Oh, yeah, baby!

Ladies of a certain age will remember the ’80s romantic fantasy series Beauty and the Beast

    I guess I’m of “a certain age”… ^_^
And, hey, you should mention it stars Ron Perlman, now better known as Hellboy. ^_^

Also, I’m a bit bummed you weren’t here last Tuesday to plug the third season box set of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

  • When I said “a certain age,” I meant, roughly, my age. Which, OK, isn’t the best now that I think of it.

  • fish eye no miko

No, it’s ok! I wasn’t offended or anything. I thought it was kind of funny, in fact. No worries.
In fact, given some of the things I’ve dealt with in my life, I’m glad I’m as old as I am. ^_^

  • Oh, I didn’t think you were offended; it’s hard to really offend anyone with a real sense of humor. It’s possible, but you really have to work at it.

  • fish eye no miko

    Ok, cool. ^_^

Aw man… I waited so many years for F13th The Series to come out… I finally found the series on a P2P share a while back and downloaded a couple episodes and… dude, it’s AWFUL *lol* I remember it being a lot cooler. Maybe it got cooler as it went on. It’s still one of the best ideas for a show ever IMO…

  • Glad I am not the only person strangely enamored with Sundown. A friend and I used to watch his tape “double feature” back in the early 90’s. Near Dark followed by Sundown. The tone change was a bit of a shock, but somehow it worked. Kept us amused many nights.
